What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Andrew Stevens began his Jiu-Jitsu journey at the age of eight in 1993, alongside Capoeira, during a short period of study in Brazil. He was fortunate to spend two years learning under Grandmaster Marco Ruas ‎(Ruas Vale Tudo school) before returning to the United States.

‎In 1995, he continued his journey, spending time as a part-time student training under Grandmaster Rickson Gracie.

After stepping away for a few years, he later resumed training while attending high school in Sydney, Australia, learning from a number of dedicated Masters including Paulo Guimarães (Root Jiu-Jitsu school) , Larry Papadopoulos (Pancrase/shooto school) and Anthony Lange (Langemma school)

‎After graduating in 2003, Andrew returned to Indonesia where he continued to learn from various Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Professors/ instructors.

‎He also spent about a year and a half training under Tigershark MMA

head coach Zuli Silawanto.‎

Over time, he chose to focus his development under the guidance of Smash Jiu-Jitsu Indonesia Professor Mr. Martin Hartono, where he continues to learn and grow within the team.

‎Andrew began coaching in 2021, and remains a student of the art, committed to sharing knowledge, supporting the community, and continuing his own journey of learning.
